The story of my van addiction
Living in Idaho near the Teton mountain range certainly means that at some point you are going to get out in the outdoors for some fun. Over the years I have migrated from tent camping to wanting a few more amenities available at the end of the day. This led to sleeping in my first Chevy express van. It had a rudimentary kitchen and bed. Not really knowing what I was getting into, I sold that van and bought another Express, cut the top off and installed a fiberglass top which allowed one to stand upright. This was a game changer and led to another level of inspiration. Now, there was a need for power to run all the stuff. Flexible solar panels were no longer cost prohibitive and readily available. This was helpful for keeping the batteries charged while parked at a trailhead for a few days. I eventually sold this van and am in the process of converting a Ford Transit. My goal has always been the ability to use every aspect of the van in most situations. Problems are met with creative solutions to the primary need for ample power which is key to enjoying your van in many situations.
