Copper countertop spices up the kitchen

Kevin Brenden · November 11, 2020 · 1 Comment

Fancy countertop, new sink and a shelf outside!

Over the summer heat and humidity did a number on the original Oak countertop. I decided to try my hand at copper. After much research, I decided on thicker roofing material – 16 oz. sheet material which was 3 feet wide by 10 feet long. The biggest challenge was cutting the material. I decided on a jigsaw with a fine toothed metal blade. Attachment was similar to other laminates using contact cement and a roller.

Once attached, I used a flush trim router bit and files to clean up edges.

The finished product

The added shelf is excellent for cooking outdoors!

I really like these induction cooktops. They replace the need for propane gas and the necessary plumbing. If you haven’t used induction – give it a try. They boil water very fast and simmer so efficiently.
